This insect robot can jump and detect water pollution

This insect robot can jump and detect water pollution

Researchers from the US and South Korea developed a small robot that can walk on water. These robots are small and very similar to the insects that exist on the surface of the water normally.

As reported by the Red Orbit, to develop their robot, the researchers record the movement of propagation of insects collected in a pool of Seoul National University in South Korea.

"These experiments revealed that the insect rises to the surface while pushing down the water surface with four legs," said the researchers in their report.

The research team made the robot body mass is very low with a size of 0.8 inches. This insect robot can jump out of the water to produce a vertical impulse. When jumping, the robot is pressed his legs about 2 inches below the surface of the water.

According to BBC News, the researchers not only develop new robotic devices, but their plans are also intended to monitor water pollution in some rivers.
