Proven Hina King on Facebook, Thailand Man Jailed 30 Years
A man Thailand, Friday (08/07/2015), was sentenced to 30 years because they are proven to insult the royal family through his Facebook account.
Bangkok military court decided Pongsak Sriboonpeng (48) guilty of upload status and photos deemed insulting to the monarchy through his account on social media Facebook.
He proved to upload six times the status and photo deemed insulting to the royal family. For each violation Pongsak rewarded 10 years in prison. That is, for all its flaws, Pongsak had to crouch 60 years in penjar.
However, after pleading guilty to insulting the royal family, the court cut his sentence by half. Pongsak "only" was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
"This penalty to break the record," said attorney Pongsak, Sasinan Thamnithinan, related to his client received a long sentence.
Sasinan added, Pongsak detained while Thailand remains under martial law did not have the right to appeal the sentence he received it.
Verdict on cases of insult to the family empire increased sharply since the military took power in Thailand since May 2014.
Thailand's King Bhumibol Adulyadej (87) is protected by one of the toughest laws in the world. According this law, anyone who is proven menghuna kings, queens, and his family could face a maximum 15 years in prison for each count proved.
