Severe pain in the knee can be caused premature death in women
Studies show that the painful knee arthritis has been associated with an increased risk of premature death in women.
Women who experience severe knee pain due to osteoarthritis seem to need to be vigilant. The researchers said that the conditions that could make women three times more likely to die from heart problems.
"These findings show that pain in the knee seems to be the important factors that could cause death from cardiovascular disease. This is probably caused by a decrease in mobility," said the study's leader, Dr. Stefan Kluzek of Arthritis Research UK Centre of Excellence for Sport at the University of Oxford.
Even so, the researchers found no increased risk of premature death in women who suffer from the pain of osteoarthritis in hands. These findings are based on data analysis conducted in middle-aged British woman, who has been recorded for 22 years.
And the results of this study were presented at the World Congress on Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis and Musculoskeletal Diseases in Milan, Italy.
"Further research is needed to understand how people adapt to knee pain, and how it can cause cardiovascular disorders," said Kluzek when interviewed journalists.
