Be careful, the full moon makes people restless sleep
The full moon is very beautiful when seen from the earth. However, some areas or parts of the world have a lot of myths about the presence of a full moon. Some say that when the full moon, the wolf and the vampire was chasing prey.
Whether the myth is true or not, but in fact, the full moon has its own effects for humans. Each time the full moon, there are people who can not sleep soundly report. Then, if it is indeed something to do with the full moon?
As reported by the Daily Mail, according to some findings, on the night of the full moon some people need almost 2 times longer to fall asleep, which is about an hour. Women took an average of 52 minutes to fall asleep at the full moon, compared with 25 to 30 minutes when the nights ordinary.
Prof. Christian Cajochen and researchers tie Basel University Switzerland, proving the influence of the full moon in a study involving 33 volunteers. When the full moon, the volunteers took longer to fall asleep and have poor sleep quality.
In the study, volunteers were not aware of the purpose of the study and could not see the moon at all that night. But still, they experienced more sleeplessness when compared to when the moon is not visible.
This is because the human body produces the hormone melatonin which is less when a lot of light, in this case the light of the full moon. The hormone serves as the body's natural sleep cycle.
"Lunar cycle seems to affect human sleep, even when one does not 'see' the moon and do not realize the actual phases of the moon," said Prof. Cajochen.
The findings also revealed that during a full moon, brain activity associated with deep sleep fell by almost a third, including the level of the hormone Melatonin earlier.
In fact, several other findings found an association between the full moon and the level of anxiety and depression are higher, until the problem of the bladder
