Amy Muslim community is thrilling, come fasting 40 days
While negative news about Islam is growing, especially after the events in Paris, Copenhagen, and Chapel Hill, young Muslims in America have the initiative to show the positive side of Islam. Some youth in America showed their solidarity towards Christians by following the tradition of Lent, in which they should fast (not eat meat, eggs, fast food, etc.) during the 40 days before Easter.
This action was preceded by a student named Bassel Riche who deliberately want to get rid of negative stereotypes that have been attached to Islam.
"I think the root cause of the rise of anti-Muslim movement in the world it is the lack of knowledge or misconceptions about Islam. And that is what triggers negative thoughts about Islam," said Bassel
Bussel is also trying to invite all Muslims in the whole world to follow the action by using the hashtag # muslim4lent. Hashtag is also deliberately he made a show of solidarity and gratitude on Christians who always respect the Muslims. He also hopes it can make the world better understand Islam.
This action actually is one program of an organization called Eid.Pray.Love who did not want to let the Islamic extremists undermine peace in society.
"The Islamic extremists have hijacked Islam and use Islam as a mask to do the things that are cruel and inhumane. Therefore, it is our duty as Muslims to show how beautiful the real Islam ", said Bussel.
