Like spicy food can make live longer?
The food in this world has a huge variety of flavors, ranging from salty, sweet, spicy, until tasteless. Today, most food taste phenomenal in Indonesia is spicy food. Yes, Indonesia has very much a fan of spicy food.
Various stalls and eating places are now many are innovating with foods that have a certain level of spicy. No kidding, the level of spicy food in Indonesia where there is use of 50 seeds chili.
But, wait, if this spicy foods do not cause ill effects to health?
A study involving nearly 500,000 people in China aged 30-79 years, found something astonishing.
People who eat spicy foods 1 or 2 times a week, had a 10 percent less likely to die in the study, compared with people who do not eat spicy at all during the week. The volunteers were followed for 7 years, and during that time 20,000 people died.
The study, published by the BMJ this, also said that people who eat spicy foods 3 or more days of the week, had 14 percent less likely to die during the study, compared with those who ate less spicy than once a week.
However, this study is an observational study, so it is too early to say whether there is a causal link between eating spicy food and a low mortality rate.
"We need more data from other populations," said Lu Qi, a professor at the Harvard School of Public Health, Boston.
Researchers do not yet know exactly why the consumption of spicy foods is associated with lower mortality. However, in previous studies, spicy foods are proven to have separate properties for the body.
Eating spicy foods, has been shown to relieve inflammation, can reduce fat on the body, and can alter the composition of the intestinal bacteria.
